100% powdery, soft, amber laced musk of the old school. It's got a slightly almondy (or should that be cyanide) kinda vibe on my skin, the longer it's on, the better it gets. On first application, I could smell nothing, but patience paid off in a big way. There is something so very strange and compelling about this. I'm going to have to invest in a bottle, because I've worn my sample down to vapour. Amazing!

got this as a sample with a bottle order. not something i would have picked to try, but now that i have it i'll finish the sample. probably won't reorder, but that's because i have another source for this exact scent: Morning Star brand incense in their Amber scent.
i get zero patchouli, zero mandarin, possibly the faintest trace of sandalwood, but mostly this is just amber. i'd say it is amber on a bed of Jovan Musk.

this smells like an old perfume. i don't mean spoiled or gone-bad, just a perfume from a very long time ago. it is not musky or "oriental" in any way, to my nose/on my skin. it is VERY powdery. not J&J baby powder, but a definite dusting powder type scent.
it does remind me a little bit of something from Avon... something i tried a long time ago, and not since, so i'm going by scent memory alone here. maybe Soft Musk?
someone else's review mentioned comparison to Skin Musk, but no, not at all in my opinion.

I've been looking for a purer (than FS's Baby Powder, others that are Chypres) "Talc Powder" smell, and this is closest i've found after 7 years search. Although this smell was common until the 1990s, its all but gone now, replaced with all the crappy "Mountain Berry" Fresh garbage scents and Fougres. If you want to smell like the Owner of a Shipping company c 1890 (before Oriental Spices were "Chypred"), cleaned up and out on the town on Sat. night, try this ! Alomost hauntingly classic !!!
