Le de Givenchy type for women

Was assured this was like the original. It is not. It is not even close. It’s horrible. In the trash. Very disappointed. Wore the original thru the 1970’s and ‘80. Just loved it...

A very good rendition, excellent in the florals, rather timid in the woods, and more than timid in the drydown (missing civet?). I will not complain though, since I am no friend of civet. "Le de" is a delicate and aristocratic perfume. It has the aristocracy of its name, which Luca Turin found meaningless, but I find quite meaningful, since my own last name has the same particle "de", as in "de Givenchy." Despite its efforts the French Revolution with its guillotine didn't manage to exterminate all families with the unpardonable "de". This fragrance proves it.

Le De Givenchy was my signature fragrance for many years, starting back in the 1960s. We parted company for a while as I wanted to try other scents. When I returned to Le De, of course I encountered a reformulation. Not terrible, but not the same, either. This is a beautiful interpretation of Le De, and I would give it 4.5 stars as it isn't quite the same as the original,lacking some of the strength of the woody base notes. It is lovely, though, and I am happy that I found The Fragrance Shop.
