Dark Moroccan Musk

in 1981 (i was 4), around Hallowe'en, my mom bought a wax air freshener sculpture decoration that looked like a cartoon witch. the box said "Autumn Spice" but i remember thinking she smelled like black jelly beans (licorice) and my mom's friend Terrie (patchouli).

we've probably still got the little decoration somewhere, if she hasn't melted over the years.
complete with the tooth-marks from one of my mom's friend's children biting off the top of her hat (why???).

i hadn't thought about that Hallowe'en decoration in years, but that's what this oil reminded me of.

not the "Witches Brew" scent that Yankee puts out (which i love, by the by) but a licorice-frankincense-patchouli-myrrh kind of scent.

most odd. like a strange Hallowe'en/Yule combo.
(that "Christmas" scent people think of, not the pine tree one, but the other one? that's usually a frankincense & myrrh combo!)

a good slather on the top of my hand, a trip down memory lane, but within two hours it had completely faded away.
