    Blurry and short-lived

Soft and creamy, with the notes all blurred together. Only a couple hours or so before it's gone. The end, such as it is, has the vetiver coming forward in an animalic skankiness, which is quite nice if you like that sort of thing, as I do.

    Smells different than real cologne

Chanel Pour Monsieur is my all time favorite cologne with one fatal flaw — it doesn’t last very long unless you get the Concentre version of it, and that version doesn’t smell as wonderful.

With that being the case, I was excited to try this perfume oil version of it. Unfortunately, this version doesn’t smell much like the original and I think a good indicator of that is the description of the product. The original is a citrus Chypre, this product is described as a spicy oriental, and that’s fairly accurate of the differences. The original has a stronger citrus opening, is less spicy, and generally warmer in it’s mid and base notes. This product has almost no citrus smell, and is much spicier and soapier smelling, without the warmth of the original.

All in all, this oil smells like Tobac or a fancy old-spice rather than a faithful copy of Chanel Pour Monsieur, which is a disappointment and a pity.

    Utterly chic

This is an exceptional composition, from its citrus opening, through its spicy heart, to its cedar drydown. If only one adjective were to define it, I would say that Chanel's Pour Monsieur is pure chic.
