Both the body lotion and perfume oil smell very similar to the original. The difference lies in the top notes. The Fragrance Shop version is smoother and much less caustic, lacking the burnt rubber opening of the Guerlain. Also, I detect more of a deeper base of amber, sandalwood and vanilla here that lasts and lasts. Sensual, comforting and warm, fine for all seasons as is not cloying in the least. Will be asking for the Perfume oil on Mothers Day as I already have the body lotion.

The current Shalimar is made with cheaper smelling ingredients than the original. I missed it so much, I gambled and ordered this oil. It is incredible- lasts for hours, smells deep and rich. Great!

The Shalimar replication smells almost better from the bottle than real Shalimar! I was a little disappointed at first when wearing it as it seemed to go kind of thin on my skin. However, after about 15 minutes or so, I was surrounded by a cloud of true smelling Shalimar. I'll definitely keep this one in mind!

Shalimar has always been my favorite perfume, but until I found The Fragrance Shop, I could no longer wear it due to my boyfriend's chemical sensitivities. So this oil has been a godsend to me! I actually prefer it to the perfume, because the perfume was so strong when I sprayed it on that it made my eyes water and made me sneeze. And yet it faded really fast on my skin after that. The Fragrance Shop's version completely captures the essence and charm of Shalimar. Unlike some cheaper oil versions I've tried, it also captures the subtleties of it.

I recall all the older girls at my boarding schools used to wear this, so it brings me back to a simpler time. Scents do more than anything I think. It's very lovely, and just as I remember.
